Morgan Lewis offers emerging businesses a unique combination of legal services － the knowledge of a “boutique” firm focusing on the needs of growing enterprises and the resources of one of the world’s largest law firms. Our attorneys represent entrepreneurs in a wide range of legal matters and focus on the needs of Internet, life sciences, computer hardware and software, retailing, distribution and other emerging growth companies.
Having represented companies from start-up through public offering and beyond, we respond to the special needs of growing companies with a solution-oriented, pragmatic approach. We understand that growing companies have limited budgets and we make every effort to deliver quality legal services at a reasonable cost.
Our firm recognizes that the needs of fast growing companies are many and multifaceted and through our Client Advisory Services team we offer high growth enterprises a set of legal-related business development services.
Sensitive to the business objectives and concerns of growing companies, our lawyers integrate needed legal services related to entity structuring, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, stock options and employment issues, intellectual property, licensing, distribution, product regulation and international issues.
Our Tokyo office was established shortly after the enactment of the Special Measures Law Concerning the Engagement in Legal Practice by Foreign Lawyers (the “Foreign Lawyers Law”) in April 1987. The Tokyo office provides legal advice to clients based in Japan on cross-border transactions and on other matters outside Japan. The Tokyo office also provides legal advice to non-Japanese clients on cross-border transactions and other matters in Japan, as permitted under the Foreign Lawyers Law.
In particular, the Tokyo office represents clients in connection with M&A, joint ventures, private equity and restructuring, venture capital, patent and other intellectual property, technology transactions and outsourcing, fund formation, litigation and general corporate and commercial matters, including representation of emerging growth companies.
The Tokyo office also serves as the firm’s portal in Asia. For clients in Japan and other parts of Asia, we provide access to the vast resources of one of the largest full-service law firms in the world, all fully integrated through firmwide practice groups and modern communications technology. For U.S., European and other clients, we provide access to the firm’s network of local lawyers throughout Asia, including in Japan, Korea, China and Southeast Asia.
