Mobile Monday Tokyo 21 August – The Heat is On

MoMo Tokyo 21 August - The Heat is On by Mobikyo KK

日本語版

It’s hot on Tokyo’s streets but even hotter in the corporate boardroom as enterprise and media players begin to look deeper into how the mobile space is developing and what path to profits their strategies should follow. MoMo Tokyo is looking forward to a killer 21 August event where we’ll host an in-bound media study tour, with some 40 delegates expected to join us at KDDI’s fabulous Designing Studio, in Harajuku. The presentations will focus on two key mobile areas: project management and building community services. Register now for what will undoubtedly be one of this month’s hottest events!

Meanwhile, a quick heads-up:

The 2nd annual NetTokyo event in July raised over JPY800,000 for charity! Our thanks to all who attended and supported this worthy cause. It’s an honour and a privilege for Mobile Monday Tokyo to be involved with the organisers bringing together Tokyo’s annual “network of networks” meeting. While we’re passing out congrats, the good folks at NaviBlog, who presented to MoMo Tokyo in May, also deserve a big pat on the back for making Red Herring Asia’s Top 100 list. Best of luck to them for the final showdown in Hong Kong at the end of August.

Admission: Seating for this event is limited – Register ASAP!

Neeraj Jhanji — Founder & CEO — ImaHima .PPT HERE
ImaHima at MoMoTo by Mobikyo KKImaHima, well known for their mobile-related community and instant-messaging projects in Japan, will introduce Atlassian’s award-winning issue-tracking application JIRA and the world-leading enterprise wiki application Confluence. ImaHima and Atlassian partnered to develop, market and support Japanese versions of JIRA and Confluence. JIRA, with over 3,000 customers spanning 55 countries, has established a reputation as the de facto issue tracking application for projects, and Confluence, with over 1,500 customers, is now the world’s most widely deployed commercial wiki. Confluence is a practical collaboration and knowledge management solution that combines the simplicity of a wiki with the powerful features enterprises demand.

Masato Uesu — Group Leader — KDDI DuoGate .PPT HERE
DuoGate KDDI and Excite Japan introduced a new joint venture, DuoGate, in the spring of 2005. The portal offers a seemless suite of converged fixed-line and mobile services including mail, photos, music, gaming, GPS and — of course — Blogs. With over 80,000 active mobile bloggers signed-up for Duoblog since launch, they have captured an early lead in the user-generated community content space. The combination of KDDI’s expertise in mobile Internet services, and Excite’s PC-oriented business, architecture and operations expertise for portal sites has allowed both companies to integrate their strengths into a unique mobile and PC Internet offering — a task that has so far been difficult to achieve.

NetTokyo – Summer Charity Networking Event

NetTokyo - Summer Charity Networking Event by Mobikyo KK

Mobile Monday Tokyo is pleased to continue our support for the “NetTokyo Summer Charity Networking Event,” coming up on 22 July. This fund-raiser — and so-called ‘network-of-networks’ for the local and international community in Tokyo — aims to be one of the best gatherings for professionals in Japan this year.

NetTokyo 2 follows the huge success of the inaugural NetTokyo 2005, which raised 800,000 yen for charities such as Nonohana-no-ie, Kokkyo Naki Kodomotachi, Japan Leukemia Research Fund, the YMCA Children’s Community Fund and Second Harvest. Full details here.

With that in mind, your MoMo team decided to kick off the upcoming ‘Cool Biz’ days on 10 July in style: chilling downstairs at SuperDeluxe with some ice-cold Stella, a tasty buffet and top-class mobile messaging and marketing presentations from Microsoft and DoubleClick.

In other news, Red Herring magazine dropped by last week and they are still open for nominations for genki companies to include on their Asia Top 100 list. The deadline is 23 June and full details are here.

And while we have your attention: we are pleased to announce that NetTokyo is coming up on 22 July. This super summer fund raising event is one of the best networking opportunities around – just like MoMo! – with all proceeds going to charity. See you there 8)

Next MoMo Tokyo at MTV Studio Cafe

MTV Studio Cafe in Harajuku by Mobikyo KKSpecial thanks to all those who came out for our New Year Shinnenkai last week! It was a great way to kick off 2006. You might have noticed some of us were running a bit late as a result of the concurrent Mobile Industry Panel hosted by MoMo Tokyo sponsor Morgan Lewis – TMI on the same evening. By all accounts both events were packed and provided valuable mobile insight and connections for participants.

The MoMo 2006 Shinnenkai: Networking and nothing but!

Bonenkai Report: i-Pod’s for All

Mobile Monday Tokyo’s “Super-Deluxe Bonenkai” hosted over 300 people at a swank, underground Roppongi niteclub on 14 November. For this year-end party event, we had no presentations, opting instead for a casual evening of business-card swapping and mobile networking. It was great to see such a wide mix of people from all corners of Tokyo’s wireless community attending for a super evening of cool jazz and, er… ‘fine’ wine.

It was also great to see high-profile attendees from the wireless carriers, ad agencies, several embassies and the hardware, application and content provider ecosystem in the house — plus at least a few VCs.

We had hoped to provide a free i-Pod shuffle to everyone, but the price-tag proved to be a bit steep… and with Santa being too busy to visit all the good mobile boys & girls, we settled for doing a business card draw instead. Congrats to the winners from Ante Music, Dai Job and Ubit…!!!

The next MoMo is in planning for mid-January 2006; we’ll send a notice to all registered MoMo members as well as post details here as soon as we have them. Meanwhile, have a super holidaze season.. =@_@=

The past year has really been a blast with fantastic presentations from insiders at bitWallet, i-CF, ColorZip, Mobaho!, Warner Music, MPulse, GMap, Opera, FreeVerse, G-Mode and Macromedia. Tokyo’s hottest mobile networking community is strong and growing, with typically over 200 participants attending, and we look forward to another great MoMo year in 2006.

With the year-end party season just around the corner, we’ve decided to make the November MoMo event a 100% relaxed and fun Super Mobile Networking Bonenkai.* And for good little boys & girls, Santa will be there with some door-prize goodies!

Note*: Bring plenty of meishi!
