Tokyo Office
Our Tokyo office was established shortly after the enactment of the Special Measures Law Concerning the Engagement in Legal Practice by Foreign Lawyers (the “Foreign Lawyers Law”) in April 1987. The Tokyo office provides legal advice to clients based in Japan on cross-border transactions and on other matters outside Japan. The Tokyo office also provides legal advice to non-Japanese clients on cross-border transactions and other matters in Japan, as permitted under the Foreign Lawyers Law.

In particular, the Tokyo office represents clients in connection with M&A, joint ventures, private equity and restructuring, venture capital, patent and other intellectual property, technology transactions and outsourcing, fund formation, litigation and general corporate and commercial matters, including representation of emerging growth companies.

The Tokyo office also serves as the firm’s portal in Asia. For clients in Japan and other parts of Asia, we provide access to the vast resources of one of the largest full-service law firms in the world, all fully integrated through firmwide practice groups and modern communications technology. For U.S., European and other clients, we provide access to the firm’s network of local lawyers throughout Asia, including in Japan, Korea, China and Southeast Asia.
